Lee Ritterband gives invited address at the American Psychological Associate – and becomes an APA fellow

August 4, 2011

Dr. Ritterband gave an invited talk today at the 119th American Psychological Association Annual Conference in Washington, DC.  His talk, “An eHealth odyssey - or - the Internet as the instrument for behavior change,” was part of the Division 38 (Health Psychology) program.  Dr. Ritterband’s talk focused on “the brief history and considerable future of Internet interventions.” It also provided an opportunity to show a clip of 2001: A Space Odyssey (you know the one - “I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that…” – just as a way to remind the audience what will happen when computers take over).

In addition, Dr. Ritterband was elected into Fellow status.  As stated on the APA website, “Fellow status is an honor bestowed upon APA Members who have shown evidence of unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in the field of psychology.  Election to Fellow status requires evidence of unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in the field of psychology. Fellow status requires that a person's work has had a national impact on the field of psychology beyond a local, state, or regional level.”
