Harsimran Singh (or ‘Sim’ as she is generally known among her colleagues) received her PhD in Health Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London (UK), in 2007. She then completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Diabetes at the University of Virginia Health System (UVA, Charlottesville, Virginia) and subsequently worked as a research scientist on NIH and other industry-sponsored projects in the Center for Behavioral Medicine, UVA. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Behavioral Health & Technology program area at UVA. Dr. Singh has a special interest in evaluating and improving psychological aspects of diabetes management in different patient populations. She has expertise in the development of diabetes-specific psychological measures, and assessment and improvement of quality of life and other patient reported outcomes in people with diabetes. Dr. Singh has published and presented both nationally and internationally on this topic. Amongst other projects, she is currently investigating the use of an Internet intervention to improve detection and management of extreme blood glucose levels in women with type 1 diabetes who are contemplating pregnancy.
